SUPPORT JOMO(CAMPUS)

Thank you for considering partnering with JOMO(campus)! Our digital wellness program offers a comprehensive approach to integrating positive technology practices into local school communities.

What is JOMO
and Digital Wellness?

JOMO is the Joy Of Missing Out on social comparison, mindless scrolling, digitally-rooted anxiety, and distraction to make space for what matters most to you and your family.

Digital Wellness is the mindful management of technology to help us be more present to the joys around us. Digital wellness leads us to use devices in ways that support our mental health and overall well-being.

Digital Wellness Curriculum

Staff

Staff education is the first step to building a digitally well culture, building team ownership of the school’s technology use philosophy, policies, procedures, and agency in implementation.

Students

Our digital well-being program is focused on student empowerment, teaching students principles and practices that will help them wisely navigate technology for life.

Families

Technology decisions begin at home. No matter a school’s technology policies, consistent family partnership is needed to build parental solidarity to support the development of digitally well high school graduates.

The JOMO(campus) Improvement Community

JOMO Core Concepts

  • Digital Well-being is the mindful management of technology to help us be more present to the joys around us. It involves balancing our online and offline worlds to ensure that digital interactions positively contribute to our overall happiness and fulfillment.

Central to this concept is the ability to embrace JOMO (Joy of Missing Out), where individuals find joy in living in the moment and engaging with their immediate environment, rather than succumbing to the anxiety and stress associated with FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), which often drives compulsive digital engagement.

This approach includes regularly decluttering our digital environments, setting achievable wellness goals, and reflecting on activities that bring life and joy.

By leaning into community, creativity, and care, we can reduce reliance on technology's false promises of comfort, control, and convenience.

  • JOMO is the joy of missing out on the right things (life-taking things like toxic comparison, loneliness and digital drain) to make space for what matters most (the people and pastimes that bring lasting joy.)

  • Warm relationships are our most significant source of happiness and indicator of long-term personal and professional flourishing. (Harvard Grant Study)

  • Comfort, Control, and Convenience

By leaning into community, creativity, and care, we can reduce reliance on technology's false promises of comfort, control, and convenience.

  • People who are happiest with technology use it intentionally for creativity, connection and care

  • Active > Passive
    Create > Consume
    Together > Alone

  • We value things that create active engagement while challenging and building our physical and mental bodies over things done in a passive, sedentary state.

  • We value things that allow us to explore creativity and use imagination to construct new experiences over passive consumption.

  • We value each other. We choose shared experiences and connections over those activities that exclude others. We seek opportunities that bring relational health.

Over the past 10 years, JOMO has transformed thousands of lives. With anxiety, overwhelm, and chronic distraction at record high levels, an integrated digital wellness plan supports students, staff, and families. JOMO equips and empowers you to move past overwhelm and move into the future with a common language, strategic plan, and opportunities to come together for community action.
